Web Applications

What is a web application (or webapp) anyway? Simply put, it is software custom-designed for your business. We analyse a process your staff carry out (this is known as a business process in webapp parlance) and suggest how that process can be better managed through a software tool available to all authorised staff via your company network. No licensing fees, no software installation – just instant access, anywhere.

Traditionally, bespoke software is expensive, difficult to maintain and difficult for its users to learn… why are webapps any different?

  • Familiarity: users interact with webapps just like they do websites – by clicking links and buttons, and navigating through pages (technically speaking, a webapp is a website, running on an internal server). If your staff can work out how to use eBay (and we’re pretty sure they can), they can get to grips with a well designed webapp with ease.
  • Open Source: many webapps (including our own) are developed for Open Source platforms. This means that all of the software required to design and run it can be installed free of charge, and you don’t have to pay for operating systems and access licenses. Installation of these systems will be included as part of any webapp we develop for you.
  • Rapid, Inexpensive Development: Traditional software applications are developed with powerful, complex tools, and they need to be – the complexity is often mind boggling, and the market is very trend driven. Most bespoke tools, however, are a “digitisation” of an existing business process, like placing an order, and these are not usually inherently complex. This means that we can use simpler programming tools in most cases, only breaking out the complexity where it is essential. This results in less labour expended, and therefore less cost to you.
